Hi! We’re Brodie and Dan and thanks for visiting our website! We moved to Tofo Beach, Mozambique, in January 2014 leaving our lives in London behind to build our dream in paradise!
We started building ‘the dream’ on a holiday in Goa in 2006. We were talking about some of the great (and not so great) places where we had previously stayed and we started a book of ideas of things we would do if we were to ever build our own place. In 2010 we both took a year off work and travelled through Asia and at every great place we stayed there was always the question – could we do it better?
Work took us back to London where we made the decision that the dream was just that – a dream. It was unrealistic to think about leaving great jobs that we loved and risking everything in a far away country. Instead we should work hard and just have great holidays.
That was the plan!
Then we were invited to a wedding in South Africa….
It seemed a great idea to spend a couple of weeks in Mozambique as we had heard the scuba diving was amazing. We arrived in Tofo, Inhambane in February 2011 with the sole purpose of a holiday. Within a week we had fallen in love with the place and agreed to buy of a piece of land on the beach. Dan’s work as a London Fireman and the small matter of a new baby kept us in England until January 2014 when we finally left the hustle and bustle of London for a small sandy town in Africa.
Our plan was to build an intimate lodge with a bar & restaurant, learning from all the good and bad experiences we have had on our travels. With our dream book full we decided to get our ideas off paper and make it a reality!
